Step 1: Identify Your Faucet Brand & Parts

Where to look for markings:

  • Under the handle (lift or remove the decorative cap)
  • On the underside of the spout
  • Behind the escutcheon or base plate
  • On the cartridge or stem itself once removed

Common information that helps:

  • Brand name (Delta, Moen, Kohler, American Standard, Price Pfister, Gerber, Mixet, Chicago, etc.)
  • Model number or series name
  • Number of handles (single or two-handle)
  • Type of cartridge or stem (ceramic disc, ball, compression, etc.)

What to bring or photograph:

  • The old cartridge, stem, or handle
  • Clear photos of the faucet from multiple angles
  • Any numbers or logos you find

Step 2: Identify Your Toilet Brand & Parts

Where to look for markings:

  • Underside of the tank lid (most common location)
  • Inside the tank on the back wall (near or below the water line)

  • Stamped into the porcelain

Faucet Stem and Cartridge Identification Guide


  1. Remove Handle and trim
  2. Remove part from faucet
  3. Lay stem next to ruler-Use a mm Caliper for ceramic cartridges-Measure length, with, top and bottom-Take a photo
  4. Remove bonnet from stem if included-Take a photo
  5. Take clear photos of the entire overhead, side, top and bottom views. Including any names, numbers or logos.
  6. Count or use a broach gauge to determine spline count.

 Compression Style Stems are usually brass and consist of a bibb washer, screw and packing.

Possibly can be rebuilt, but replacement is a better option.


Single Handle Cartridge are usually a sealed unit and use rubbers seals/Orings and possibly springs.
Some parts are replaceable.

Toilet Tank Lid Measurement Guide


Associated Plumbers has over 2,000  obsolete, used, vintage porcelain china and porcelain over cast iron toilet tank lids from manufacturers such as Standard, Kohler, Crane, Mansfield, Eljer, Briggs, Gerber, Orion, Kilgore, Case and others.


To properly match a lid to your toilet tank, we’ll need the broken tank lid or a template of the tank itself. Basically, get a large sheet of paper, lay it out on the top of the tank, and trace the outside of your tank. Cut out the template and ensure that it just sits on the top of the tank.

Include any names and/or marks that may be on the inside of the tank or the broken lid. Due to the manufacturing process we cannot match lids with just the name/model number or measurements.


Price depends on scarcity, age, and condition, they start at $75.00 and go up. We mostly have Pre-1990 lids, and VERY FEW colored ones.


Always be sure to lay the toilet tank lid flat on the floor or stable table when checking your toilet.
